ETHANOL - DENATURED ETHANOL (CDA12A)
Description
Description
200 Proof Ethanol Denatured with n-Heptane is a volatile, flammable, colorless liquid composed of 5% heptane and 95% ethanol by volume. Denatured ethanol has identical chemical properties to 200 Proof ethanol, but has been rendered unsafe for human consumption and topical use with the addition of heptane.
Applications
Applications
Ethanol is a versatile, polar protic solvent. It is considered a universal solvent as it can dissolve polar and nonpolar chemicals. Denatured ethanol is chiefly used for its solvent properties as it is not safe for use in food or medical applications due to the presence of n-heptane.
